アートにおける移動性

PDAや携帯電話を表現媒体とする試みは、これまでは限定的にしか行なうことができなかった。しかし、今日ではiPhoneやAndroid Phoneなどのモバイル・デバイスを用いることができる。これらは高度な表現と手軽な開発、そして全世界規模での展開を可能にしている。このことは、我々は伝統的なアートの形態や価値とは異なる様相に直面していることを意味する。人々の活動の場は既にデスクトップからモバイルに移行しているのだから、アートもまた新しいフロンティアを目指さなければならない。しかし、アートは未だに美術館やコンサート・ホールに縛られている。これはアーティストの態度だけでなく、聴衆の感性においても同様だ。それゆえに、このような現代において、私たちはモバイル・テクノロジーを使って何ができるのかと自問しなければならない。

Mobility in Art

It used to be that the possibilities for using PDAs and mobile phones as creative expression media were limited. However, now we can use mobile devices such as iPhones and Android phones. These platforms allow for advanced expression, easy development and world-wide distribution. This means that we are facing a situation that differs from traditional art forms and values. Because people have already moved from the desktop to the mobile in their activities, art must also head towards new frontiers. However, art is still bound to museums and concert halls. This is true both in artists’ attitude and audiences’ minds. It is for this very reason that we must ask ourselves what we can do today with mobile phone technologies.
